Arlene grew up in Indianapolis until the age of 13 when she, along with her family, moved to El Monte, California. She graduated from Montebello High School at the top of her class. While in high school, she was on the tennis team and won the League championship. From high school, she worked for Dietrich’s Bakery and Sears & Roebucks in California. She met Bill Corwin and he asked her to marry him on the very first date. She agreed! They were married three weeks later in Yuma, Arizona. In 1970, they moved to Spokane, Washington where they lived for 20 years. Arlene worked as an Electrical Line Dispatcher and Gas Service Line Dispatcher for the Washington Water Power Company in Spokane.  She retired in 1986 at the age of 55. They moved to Kirkland, Washington in 1990 to be near their children and grandchildren.

Arlene had a variety of hobbies including reading, knitting, sewing, taking road trips and bike riding. She also enjoyed camping and was a very competitive Pinochle player. Arlene and Bill also owned a cabin at Loon Lake where they particularly liked to enjoy their free time. She was also an avid Seattle Mariner fan.

Arlene became a Christian at the age of 13 and faithfully served the Lord, Jesus, until her last breath. She and her husband, Bill, were active members of the Northside Church of Christ when they lived in Spokane, and both the Woodinville and Bellevue Churches of Christ. She loved to share her faith by talking about Jesus to her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her sibling’s children, and to her in-laws.  Through her words and example she brought many of them to know Jesus. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
