Susan L. Tharp

Susan L. Tharp, beloved wife of Fred O. Tharp, peacefully departed this world January 23rd, surrounded by loved ones. A frequent mover, Susan traveled up the West Coast from California, up through Medford, OR, and finally settling in Sammamish, WA. While in Medford, Susan and her family joyfully operated the Timber Room Café from 1975 to 1979. Among her previous occupations included dental assisting, restauranteur, and expert homemaker. Favorite hobbies included hosting family events, cake decorating and mole hunting. At one with nature, Susan seemed to draw the wild of the forest to her property. Known as Grandma Nature, she would talk to and feed the squirrels and deer that would frequent her back yard.

Stressing that family is a priority, she was always willing to help out those who came to her for assistance. This love of family she instilled in all her descendants. Susan was preceded in death by husband Fred O. Tharp, Jr., step daughter Allison Dowling, sister Margaret Pulse, brothers Eugene and James/Helen Shine and parents Bartholomew Shine and Edna Shine/Covington. She is survived by her sister, Katie and Les McCoy, children Kathy Lopez, Sandra Garner, Patrick/Rose Eagen, Gail/Will LeVasseur, Glenn Crouch, stepsons Gary/Debbie Crouch and Fred O./Debbie Tharp III, foster daughter Sheree Scott. Susan had a very large extended family with many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Services will be held at her home on February 1 at 1pm with a pot luck reception to follow. There will be time for viewing prior to the service from 12-1, then it will be closed for the service. If you have anything you would like to share with everyone we will have open time for whoever would like to speak.  If you had a dish she enjoyed and would like to bring it to the potluck, please prepare it for 4 or 5 people, we would all appreciate it.
