Joan Marlene Seib age 74 died peacefully at her home in Issaquah, WA on October 29th 2013.
Joan was born August 20th 1939 in Everett, WA to Otto and Josephine Mobius. She grew up in Lake Stevens, Washington with her brother Donald and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Lake Stevens High School. Joan was an energetic and adventurous young woman who spent some of her time cheerleading and playing the piano in a band. While attending Seattle University, she met Edwin Seib at a Catholic dance. Joan and Edwin married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Everett, Washington on September 10, 1960 and raised 3 children in Kirkland, Washington. As a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for over 40 years Joan participated in many ways. Despite being diagnosed at a young age with Multiple Sclerosis she lived life to the fullest as room mom, playground lady, Cub Scout leader and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Joan’s strength and determination was an inspiration to all that had the privilege of knowing her. Joan knew no physical boundaries. One time she worked her way up 3 flights of stairs on her hands and knees just to see her daughter’s sewing room. Joan always encouraged her family’s adventures and interests.
Joan was married to the love of her life, Edwin, for over 53 years. They moved to Issaquah in 2007, where they continued to share their time together. Joan furthered her commitment to her faith at St Joseph’s Church. When she was no longer able to physically attend church she prayed, read scriptures and shared her faith with all she encountered.
Joan loved to laugh. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, positive attitude and joyous heart. She believed in her God and trusted Him to the fullest.
Joan’s life will be celebrated Monday November 4th at 11:30 am at St Joseph Catholic Church at 250 Mt Park Boulevard SW in Issaquah, Washington. A Rosary Prayer Service will be held at 10:30 am prior to the service.
