Gary Brian Rice
(December 13, 1960 – September 18, 2013)
Gary Brian Rice, age 52, beloved husband and father, has completed his mission on this earth on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in Seattle, Washington. He is now with his Lord and Savior.
He was born in Crecent City, California, to Warren Eugene Rice and Dianne Kathryn Oehler on December 13, 1960. He grew up in Milwaukee, Oregon and graduated from high school in 1981. He married his first wife, Lana Gregory and they had 3 children, Jarius, Daniel and Terryl, who survive him. He attended Everett Community College. Then he married his current wife, Liezele and they have a daughter Naomi, 3 years old. He is also survived by his siblings Glenn Rice, Karyn Martinez, and Kenneth Rice.
Gary served an honorable mission beginning 1981 and served in the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission. In 1981 he was called to serve as a District Leader “due to his faithfulness, capabilities and dedication to his calling.” His mission ended December 10, 1982.
He entered the Army in 1983 and served as a medical specialist for 6 years and 3 mos. He earned the Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal Bronze Clasp w/2 Loops, Oversea Service Ribbon, Expert Qualification Badge and M-26 Rifle Bar. He served his country until 1989.
Gary married Liezele Gariando on September 24, 2005. They have a beautiful daughter, Naomi Giezel born June 29, 2010. His wife and daughter were the loves of his life. Gary loved to spend time with his family, ride his bicycle, write poetry and serve in his church. They lived and worked in Bellevue WA. He became ill in 2012 and spent the last year of his life in hospitals and care facilities. Liezele faithfully took care of him and visited him several times a week traveling to Seattle to see him. Naomi usually accompanied her.
His funeral will be held at the Bellevue Stake Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 14536 Main St, Bellevue WA Wednesday October 2nd, at 10 am. Interment will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery following the service.
