Michael Shawn Holt, 49, peacefully slipped away from us into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 27, 2012.
Shawn served his country as a Corporal Combat Engineer from 1980-1984 and was part of this country’s first Multi-National Peacekeeping mission to Beirut, Lebanon. Following the bombing of the Marine Corp barracks, which took the lives of 241 men, many of whom were a part of his unit and dear friends, Shawn courageously participated in the recovery and clean up. Memories of which remained foremost in his thoughts until God wiped away all tears at his passing.
A loving son to his mother, Glenda Ewing of Wenatchee, brother to Christopher of Wenatchee and Kevin of Los Angeles, grandson of Mrs. Maxine Knapp of Edmonds, father to Derrick and Skyler, uncle to Nick Taskey of Boise and Conner Burrill of San Diego, nephew to Mrs. Victoria Coolidge of Bothell and Rick Knapp of Kenmore, son of Michael Holt of La Conner, longtime loving friend of Jeanine Rakestraw of Bothell and numerous cousins. You are deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known you.
A full Military Honor Guard ceremony will be held in his honor at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery in Covington, Washington at a date to be determined.
Semper Fidelis, Marine.
