Sandra Jean Meyers (Galbraith)

Sandra Jean Meyers

(Galbraith)

February 25, 1947 – May 6, 2012

Known to many as “Grandma Sandy”.  Sandra will forever be remembered as a generous and caring woman who enjoyed serving and helping people.  She had a tremendous love for her grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling them.

Raised in Edmonds, Sandra graduated from Edmonds High School in 1965. She was involved in Girl Scouts and was an avid swimmer.  She trained as a Red Cross water safety instructor, later working as a life guard at Echo Lake and the Shoreline Boys & Girls Club.  She attended Shoreline Community College for basic studies prior to marriage.  After starting her family, she received her Medical Assistant degree at Edmonds Community College in 1976.

Her career centered in the medical industry with extensive experience within medical office environments.  Her talents were not limited to the medical industry, as she also worked with a developer fixing up neglected homes for resale, one of which she purchased.  Later, she pursued various customer service type work where she shined, due to her love for conversing with people.  She had a gift of connecting with people and noticing what made each person unique.

Sandra enjoyed camping, gardening, reading and soaking up the sun.  She loved to travel- Mexico being her favorite destination.  Her hobbies grew to include card making, photo book making, home décor, knitting and her latest endeavor, quilting.  With her love for animals, her home always had several pets, which she also spoiled.  Her three dogs and two cats miss her dearly.

Turning to God and receiving Jesus as her Lord and Savior brought new purpose to her life. Sandra lived out her faith by loving others. She loved people, she loved animals… she loved her family. She extended her heart to many; developing a family-style relationship with far too many to count.  This heart led her to become certified in the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program where she impacted several lives.

Sandra is survived by:  Her brother Kirk Galbraith, two children Eric Ferkingstad (Shannon) and Wendy Johnson (Leon); her six grandchildren, Justin Johnson, Colton Heaverly, Brock Johnson, Megan Johnson, Braedon Ferkingstad, and Haely Ferkingstad.

A memorial service will be held June 2nd at 11am at Valley View Bible Church – 9717 31st Ave SE, Everett, WA 98208 with reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.

A Silent Tear

Just close your eyes and you will see
All the memories that you have of me
Just sit and relax and you will find
I’m really still there inside your mind
Don’t cry for me now I’m gone
For I am in the land of song
There is no pain, there is no fear
So dry away that silent tear
Don’t think of me in the dark and cold
For here I am, no longer old
I’m in that place that’s filled with love
Known to you all, as “UP ABOVE”
