Diane (Breithaupt) Carbaugh, 55, of Kirkland, Washington passed away on February 21, 2012 at Evergreen Hospice after a courageous battle with leukemia. She is now in the embrace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, with whom she loved with all her heart.
She was born on August 20, 1956 in Colfax, WA and went to elementary school in Malden. At age 7 she moved to Spokane with her parents and that became her home. Diane graduated from Ferris High School in 1974. She married soon after and had three beautiful children.
In 1987 Diane and the children moved to the Kirkland area. In 1988 she began her career in benefits by working as a Life Insurance Coordinator for The Regence Group. During this time she attended Bellevue Community College from 1992 through 1994. In 1998 she began working for The Unity Group as an Account Manager. In 2005 she transferred to Parker Smith and Feek where she worked as an Account Manager helping employers provide the perfect benefit package for their employees. During her career she earned her life and disability license and an ACSR designation. In 2008 she was diagnosed with leukemia after a routine medical examination but she continued working while receiving treatment. Diane was described by her co-workers at Parker Smith & Feek as having an incredible work ethic.
Diane was married to David Carbaugh on October 1, 2011. The newlyweds were high school sweethearts and through God’s divine plan were miraculously reacquainted in December 2010 after being apart for 35 years. They experienced much joy in living their dream that earlier was thought to be impossible, and they made the most of every moment spent together with love and devotion.
Diane always placed her children first beyond her own wants. She was very active in her church and enjoyed being a bible study leader. Baking was a great pleasure and she would often take cookies or brownies to work and to bible study groups. She loved hiking and enjoyed participating with friends in the yearly Bloomsday Run / Walk in Spokane. She was passionate about the Seahawks and Huskies as well as the Mariners. She loved her little dog, Scout.
She walked with the Lord through the many stages of her life. Diane touched many people through her kind words and actions and tried to live her life as a reflection of God’s love. She never hesitated to share her confident yet quiet faith with her family and the many friends she met along the way, and by example she led many people to the Lord.
