And just at the moment when someone at my side says she is gone there are others who are watching her coming over their horizon and other voices take up a glad shout. There she comes!

John Norman Cox of Bellevue, WA passed away on Friday December 2nd, 2016. John was born to the late Leslie and Elsie Cox September 3, 1931 in Clifton Bristol, England. John graduated from the prestigious Tiffin Boys School of Surrey England where he studied mechanical engineering. He was active in many sports including football (soccer to you Yanks), rugby, bike racing and kayaking. He married Janice Cox in Toronto, Ontario Canada on August 15th, 1958. They lived together in Toronto, ON; in Jamestown, NY; in Torrance, CA; and in Redmond, WA.
John was very passionate about his career as a mechanical engineer and took great pride in being able to provide well for his family despite never attending university. He enjoyed photography, fishing and woodworking in his spare time. John will be remembered well for his warm smile, his hearty laugh and his quirky English sense of humor.
John was preceded in death by his sisters; Mary Lujan of San Jose, CA and Jean Smith of Indianapolis, IN. He is survived by his wife Janice Cox and three sons; John Shaw of Calgary, Alberta Canada; Stephen Cox of Redmond, WA; and Darrell Cox of San Francisco, CA. John is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Mandy Cox, Stephen Cox Jr, Sammy Cox, Victoria Shaw, Derek Shaw and Cassidy Cox Sauvage.
A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday January 21st at Overlake Terrace Retirement Home 2956 152nd Ave. NE Redmond, WA 98052. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John’s name to the National Alzheimer’s Association (http://www.alz.org/nca/in_my_community_58187.asp).
