March 18, 1936 – May 29, 2017
William (Bill) Johnson passed away at the age of 81 on Memorial Day at the Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland after a 12 year long and very hard fought battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
Bill was born in Seattle March 18, 1936 to Ernest (Ernie) and Mary Johnson. He spent time growing up on the shores of Lake Sawyer before moving back to Seattle where he graduated from Lincoln High School. While in high school he met his wife of 60 years, Sharon Stanton. They spent most of their lives in the Kenmore/Bothell area.
After graduation, Bill was selected into the first ever model makers apprenticeship program at The Boeing Co. He stayed at Boeing for 41 years until he retired. He continued to be an active part of his retirees group (RATS Retired Alumni Tunnel Society) until his death. While at Boeing he worked on each model of the Boeing jets and was always proud to say he made parts that are on the planet Mars.
He was able to travel the world for both work and pleasure which brought him much joy. In retirement, Bill and Sharon were able to jump in their motorhome and putter around the US, Canada, and Mexico spending extended times in Florida and Nevada before returning to Seattle to start his time with the wonderful people at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, DJ (Louise) Johnson of Bothell, Kathy (Terry) Jackson of Bothell; adored grandchildren, Antonio (Carmen) Mora, Sarah Sterley, Karlie (James) You, and Hunter Jackson; and one amazing great-grandchild, Aurora You.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the various SCCA sites, Evergreen Hospital, and Evergreen Hospice for making his treatment, stays, and final days the best possible. His love of life and positive outlook on everything will be missed by all.
