Thomas Ray Hargan, Jr.

Thomas Ray Hargan Jr., of Auburn died on June 15, 2018. He was born December 21, 1975 in Renton, the son of Thomas Sr. and Kaye (Lund) Hargan. He attended Kent Schools and graduated as valedictorian from Kentwood High School in 1994. Thomas received a B.A. degree from the University of Washington in 1998 and in May of 2001 graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seattle University School of Law with a J.D. degree. Tom was admitted to the Washington State Bar Association to practice law in 2001.

From July of 2000 through April of 2003, Tom served as a Deputy Prosecutor in several Pierce County District Courts. In 2003, Tom left the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office for the law firm of Sampson & Wilson, Inc., P.S. While with Sampson & Wilson, Tom served as the prosecutor for the cities of Buckley and Normandy Park. Tom also served as an assistant to the City Attorney for Buckley, Normandy Park and Covington. In September of 2004, Tom was brought in-house with the city of Covington, where he served as the Assistant City Attorney and Prosecutor, before being promoted to City Attorney and Prosecutor. In November of 2006, Tom opened the Law Offices of Thomas R. Hargan with a focus on municipal law and prosecution. Since opening the law office, Tom served as prosecutor for the cities of Covington, Maple Valley and Buckley and as a conflict prosecutor for the cities of Enumclaw, Algona, Pacific and Black Diamond. Tom also served as the interim City Attorney and backup City Attorney for the cities of Maple Valley, Buckley and Snoqualmie.

Tom enjoyed spending time with his kids, family and friends, golfing with his buddies, being outdoors, traveling, camping and playing cribbage.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Julie Johnson Hargan of Auburn, his children (Sophia, Sydney and Oliver), his parents (Thomas Sr. and Kaye), his sisters (Keri Johnson and Lori Evans), brother-in-law’s (Chris Johnson and Brian Evans), several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Auburn Municipal Golf Course at 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 29^th. In lieu of flowers the family has established a UTMA scholarship account for his children at Bank of America.
