Claire Marie Jacobs

Claire Marie Jacobs

Claire Marie Jacobs passed away in Shoreline, WA on November 26, 2018, from complications of vascular dementia.  Her husband of 67 years and her daughter were by her side.

She was born Claire Marie Paré on February 12, 1929 in Holyoke, MA, and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Lawrence, MA. She married Richard Jacobs on June 3, 1951 and her life’s adventure was exploring the places that his US Coast Guard career brought them, meeting and charming new people, and serving with the highest distinction as Mama Bear for her two children.  She and Dick traveled the world extensively for many years after his retirement, until she became ill.

She is survived by her husband Dick, her children Cindy Jacobs (Dennis Riggs) and Brad Jacobs (Debbie), her sisters Jeannine Paré, Lorainne Quinn, and Doris Michaud, her beloved grandchildren Robert Howey, Jennifer Latourette (Dave), John Surprise (Melanie), and Stephen Howey (Marie), her great-grandchildren Bradley Surprise, Maurine Claire Surprise, and Rainier Howey, in whom she delighted, and numerous nieces and nephews in multiple generations, all of whom she loved dearly. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Joseph and Sophie Paré, and her twin sister Therese Habib.

There will be no formal service, but family and friends will be contacted soon to save a date for a remembrance celebration some time after the first of the year.  Donations in Claire’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in hopes of finally finding a cure for the horrible spectrum of dementia-related diseases that took her from us.
