Michele Cecile Lathan gained her wings at the age of 71. She was at home when she passed away peacefully on January 18, 2019 with her two daughters, Angela and Amy, along with life partner, Guy, by her side.
Michele was born to Richard Reynold Frane and Itha Marie (Holtz) Frane in Seattle, WA on June 5, 1947. She was the 8th of 9 children. She was known by the nicknames “Mick” and “Mickey.” She graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle, WA and later from the University of Washington with a BA in Global studies in 2003. She lived the last 35 years of her life in Everett, WA. She married Wesley Leroy Lathan on May 27, 1977 and was widowed on August 21, 1990. She spent the last 24 years of her life with her life partner Guy Balsitis. Michele loved her family deeply. She greatly enjoyed the children in her life. She also found joy in the theater, travel, history, gardening, reading, chocolate, and her dogs. She will be dearly missed.
Michele was preceded in death by her Father and Mother; Richard and Marie Frane, her sister; Patricia Day (Frane), and her nieces and nephews; Richard Frane III, Gina Erickson, Tina Frane, Michael Tisdel, Edward Denton, and Andrew Peterson.
Michele is survived by her life partner, Guy Balsitis; two daughters, Angela Wendel (Jeff) and Amy Lathan (Paul Moffenbier); her grandsons; Corey Wendel, Tristan Wendel, and Brent Wendel; her granddaughters; Peyton Lathan-Alton and Mackenzie Moffenbier, and her great-granddaughter, Layne Wendel. She is also survived by her siblings, Dorothy Musch, Nancy Walsh, Richard Frane II (Maryann), Daniel Frane (Jean), Suzanne Kemp (Clifford), Marianne Denton, Cristina Kelly and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Everett on February 2, 2019 at 10 a.m. with Father Titus E. G. Bayani officiating; graveside to follow at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline. A celebration of life will be held later that day at Vintage at Holly Village (9615 Holly Dr, Everett) 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. All are welcome to these events.
The family will receive friends and family from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 1 at Barton’s Family Funeral Service in Shoreline.
