Beatrice (Crisman) Castona was born 4.24.20 in Seattle, passed away 2.1.2019 in Snohomish. Bea is survived by her children Chuck (Clare), William (Patti), Evelyn Keller, Joann (Robert) Schimpf, James (Jan), John (Theresa), her sisters Elizabeth Morrow, Frances Tower, and Helen Inman. She had 67 grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren. She was greeted in heaven by her husband Hervey, her mother Margaret, father Clyde, sister Marjorie, brother Paul, son David, granddaughter Kim, and son-in-law Dan.
Bea lived in the Greenwood area most of her life. She endured great hardships growing up during the Depression during which Bea and her siblings spent some time in an orphanage while her parents struggled and traveled for work. She attended Holy Angels High School where she met her dear friend Mary Ann Beezer. The two of them enjoyed attending dances, going to movies, and creating a little mischief. Memories of her time with Mary Ann always made Bea smile and giggle.
After high school Bea worked at Hostess Bakery where she met and fell in love with Hervey Castona; her life changed forever. She left Hostess Bakery and raised 7 children. Hervey passed away too soon in 1963 leaving Bea with a family to raise on her own. It was such a big loss, but she raised her children proudly. She traveled everywhere by foot or bus as she never learned to drive. She always welcomed anyone into her home who needed a place to stay and meals to eat.
Bea was a member of St. John’s parish. She loved to play bingo, taking trips to Reno, beading, shopping, visiting the casino, and making her cherished jeweled Christmas trees. Later in life she found her passion and dedicated herself to volunteering at the Ballard Senior Center. She worked diligently on their rummage sales bringing in much needed funds for the center. She was affectionately known there as Queen Bea.
Bea was an amazing woman who was proud of her family and will be greatly missed.
