02/19/1982 – 08/30/2019
Our beautiful girl Desiree passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019. She is the daughter of Darryl and Judy Zaccaria, the sister of Jason, the sister-in-law of Leah and aunt of Alexis.
She was born at Providence Hospital in Seattle. Dez grew up in Kirkland, went to Juanita Elementary, Juanita High School and Bellevue Community College. She was a natural athlete in any sport she tried and with any ball she picked up. At BCC she hit the longest home run at that school by a female athlete.
Desiree was involved with the youth group at St. John Vianney and really enjoyed the mission work of visiting nursing homes, attending to the migrant farmer children and especially building homes for the poor in Tijuana.
Her career was in banking and investments. She worked at Washington Mutual/Chase Bank and Symetra. She was an organizer and comfortable with her sexuality – she established a group for young women and called it “Les-be-Friends”. Desiree was also on the board that begin a chapter of the LGBTQ for Symetra.
We will miss her beautiful smile, those deep dimples, baby blue eyes, infectious laugh, huge lovable personality, her hugs, the way she could sing the words to any song and her love of a good dance party. Our lives are forever changed and we are better for knowing her. Therefore, we all have a huge hole in our hearts that will never be filled because of her passing.
Desiree’s funeral and celebration of her life will be on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 12600 84th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA at 10:00 a.m. A reception and luncheon will follow at church. Internment will be at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline.
May her beautiful soul rest in peace…
