David William Marks, Jr., 90, died on Thursday, December 19, 2019, in Edmonds Washington. He was born in Albany, Oregon, to David William Marks, Sr. and Alberta Louessa Bird Marks.
David graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon, and then attended Portland University. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Lois Ottersen. They moved to Seattle, Washington, where their daughter Marilyn Ann was born. Three sons followed, Philip David, Dan Loren, and Michael Eric.
David was a successful business man and started two companies, Marks and Thomas Wholesale in Seattle and DF Marks in Redmond. He loved his family, the outdoors, traveling with Joan, fishing, hunting, and music. He was very involved with Boy Scouts and led many 50 mile hikes throughout the Cascades and the Olympics. He received the PTA Golden Acorn award for his work in the community and the Boy Scouts. He was a member of Active Club. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Shoreline, Washington, where he served on the building committee.
David is survived by his wife Joan, his children and their spouses, Marilyn Ann Marks Feeney and husband Mike of Lewiston, Idaho, Philip David Marks and wife Suzanne of Issaquah, Washington, Dan Loren Marks and wife Kelly of Belfair, Washington, and Michael Eric Marks and wife Katherine Burnett of Spokane, Washington. He is also survived by six grandchildren and their spouses, Lauren and husband Mike of Lynnwood, Washington, John and wife Becca of Austin, Texas, Jeff of London, England, Laura and husband Sean of Snoqualmie, Washington, Ben of Spokane, Washington, and Raeanne of Seattle, Washington and one great grandchild Maizie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Sr. and Alberta Marks, his brother Frank Albert Marks, and his nephew David John Marks.
