Dick Chandler
Richard A. (Dick) Chandler passed away July 26, 2020 from complications of Dementia which affected his speech and finally his heart.
He was born in Yakima, WA on April 9, 1929.
Dick is survived by his wife, Lois and recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Also survived by his daughters, Caren, Cathy, son, Jeff and Daughter-in-law, Sandra and grandchildren: Ben, Caitlin, Cameron, Cara and Carson.
Dick worked 33 years in Seattle for Pacific Northwest Bell (PNB) and at retirement in 1980 was in charge of Displays and Exhibits in the Public Relations Dept. While still in High School, he worked part-time building a dock for Kenmore Air Harbor. Instead of pay, he received flying lessons and received his pilot license at 17 years of age, one years before his driving license. At 18 , he started working for PNB.
From 1950 to 53, he served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was quite proud of being stationed in France building a telecommunication center. After serving in the Air Force, he returned to PNB and married Lois in 1964. She also worked for PNB on the 14th floor of the Exchange Building and Dick on the 16th Floor. The rumor in the company was “did you hear that Dick Chandler is marrying that young “chick-ee” on the 14th Floor. Well it lasted for 56 years so think he knew what he was doing. Dick and Lois enjoyed their family and time spent with all of them at their cabin on the Naches River and Peterson’s Waterfront in Lake Chelan. They also traveled to Puerto Vallarta each year for 26 years and to the Maui Sunset in Hawaii. Dick loved hunting and fishing with his buddies: Darrell Miller, Ron LeFebvre, his son Jeff, among others
The family would like to thank Daniela’s Adult Home Care in Woodinville for their great care in his last year with us. Especially Daniela, her husband Eli and their 3 caregivers Judy, Marci and Lucky.
There will be no services at this time.
