Caryl Anderson Reese, loving wife, devoted mother and proud grandmother passed away peacefully at Emerald Heights on December 21st.
Her gentle disposition and love of gardening, puzzles and chocolate will be greatly missed. Caryl was born and raised in the Seattle area. As a native of the Northwest, she enjoyed many outdoor activities growing up. She held one of the first REI memberships at the Seattle Flagship store and spent time hiking and skiing. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and then earned a degree in Business Administration from Washington State College in 1951. She was a proud lifetime WSU Cougar fan. After graduating, she worked at Ogilvy and Mather.
In 1959, she married her friend Bill Reese, the love of her life. They settled in Bellevue, raising 3 children who were her pride and joy.
Caryl loved biking which grew to involve family and friends and culminated in a memorable family trip cycling through Europe. She was a longtime member of PEO and enjoyed many lifelong friendships. She loved her garden, spending many hours tending to her bulbs and planting annuals.
Caryl enjoyed being a longtime member of Bellevue First Presbyterian Church. She served as a deacon and a member of the Bell Choir which performed with the main Choir on tour in Europe.
She kept active in retirement building a cabin on Camano Island, owning and managing a commercial office building and traveling with Bill.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Kathy and her husband Bill. She is survived by her sons Mike and wife Margaret, David and wife Robin, her grandchildren Ellie, Max, Fairlie, Lacey, Nathan, niece Cynthia and many caring relatives.
The family is grateful for the care and support from Emerald Heights, Evergreen Hospice, her personal care providers and First Presbyterian Church.
