Mr. Eddie Ray Jamison was born in Columbus, MS on January 2, 1943 to Ernest and Annie Bell Jamison.
He departed this life on Monday, January 31, 2022 at the age of 79 years after a long battle with Relapse/Refractory Multiple Myeloma.
He moved to Grand Rapids, MI in 1948 where he and his family were long time members of True Light Missionary Baptist Church.
Eddie Ray is a product of Grand Rapids Public Schools and a graduate of Central High School where he was a good student who excelled in football, basketball, and track.
In 1964 Eddie Ray answered the call to serve his country when drafted into the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1966 at which time he returned to Grand Rapids. Upon returning home, he was employed in a variety of positions including as a Juvenile Court Worker for the Kent County Juvenile Youth Facility where he was a positive role model for the young people he came into contact with.
In 1975 Eddie Ray moved to Seattle, WA in search of a more temperate climate and a greater purpose.
While in Seattle, Eddie Ray earned two degrees from the University of Washington, a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Social Work which led to a career as a Juvenile Court Worker in King County and a as Substance Abuse Counselor until his retirement.
Eddie Ray loved hitting the gym where he could get in a good workout, as this was a passion for him. He looked forward to connecting with his workout friends at Gold’s and LA Fitness gyms. There he could be found helping anyone needing assistance with their workout routines, offering a big smile, a signature hug and/or sharing his infectious laugh to brighten one’s day.
He is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings (Johnnie C. Moore, Tommie Lee Moore, Walter Moore, Sr., Charles Moore, Sr., Ernestine Hassen, Roger Lee Jamison, and Clara Jamison).
Eddie Ray leaves behind to cherish his memory one son Edward Raymond Jamison of Grand Rapids, MI; brother Cleveland (Sandra) Moore of Lansing, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends.
The family of Eddie Ray Jamison would like to offer a heartfelt Thank You to the many medical doctors, nurses, social workers, and other individuals at the Seattle Cancer Alliance, the University of Washington Medical Center, Kline Galland Home, and Hospice who assisted our loved one.
