Kenneth (Ken) Lloyd Pollard of Bothell, Washington died of natural causes on January 31, 2022 at 64 years of age. He was with all three of his children at the time of his passing.
Ken was a beloved son, devoted father, and grandfather. He is survived by his mother, Darlene; stepfather, Sonny; sister, Terri; his three children, John, Laura and Brittany; daughter-in-law, Carrie; grandsons, Ellis and Logan and many, many friends. Ken is preceded in death by his father Dick and brother Rick.
Born in Renton, Washington and raised in Vancouver, B.C., Ken worked a handful of jobs throughout his life, including as a deckhand on a freight ship on the Great Lakes and in the lumber department at the Home Depot. Though he spoke the most fondly of his career as an elevator mechanic at Western Elevator. Ken was mechanically minded, and he never missed an opportunity to talk about elevators.
Ken had a special zest for life. He was social and loved being with friends and family. He will be remembered by many for the funny stories and jokes he told–he never failed to make people laugh. Ken was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, coffee lover, and got a thrill out of finding a good deal at a garage sale. He also loved listening to the blues, playing backgammon and cribbage, shooting at the gun range, and going for long drives. He had a soft spot for animals and had many pets throughout his life. Although never a pilot, Ken also had a lifelong appreciation for aviation and airplanes.
Ken was generous with his time and never hesitated to lend a hand to loved ones and strangers alike. On many occasions he invited people down on their luck to stay at his family’s home. Additionally, Ken was sober for many years and consistently offered rides to those who needed to get to an AA meeting. His kind heart and optimistic spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
His family plans to honor Ken by striving to live with the same vivacity and love he embodied. This summer we will hold a celebration of life ceremony to honor Ken’s life and memory. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local AA chapter.
