Dr. Edward H. Freeman, Jr. passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in the state of Washington. He was 73 years old.
Born in Long Beach, California, on May 5, 1948, he was a product of Long Beach Poly High School, after which he launched into psychology and mathematics, ultimately earning a Ph.D. from UCLA in Social Psychology with an emphasis in Psychometrics. He was recruited by Stanford Research Institute, US WEST Advanced Technologies, and Denver Public Schools, among other organizations. His career spanned Artificial Intelligence, R&D, and education. Throughout his career, he received several awards and recognition. Dr. Freeman advanced to roles of leadership in several states, and dedicated his life to being a mentor and a living example of academic excellence.
He is survived by his wife Carmen; daughter Isis Freeman-Dirksen and son-in-law, Peter; daughter China Helwig and son-in-law, David; grandchildren Cole, Tasha, Daphne, and Ruby; siblings Dorothy Freeman-Brandon, Harold Freeman, Barbara Freeman, and Alice Freeman-Manuel; uncle Paul Freeman, niece Tamara Snowden, nephew Carl Brandon, niece Stephanei Freeman-Welch; nephews Sean Coleman (wife Cynthia) and children, and Eric Coleman (wife Agnes) and children; brothers-in-law Roland Coleman, Jr. (wife Evelyn), and Lorin Coleman (wife Kanan).
