Dale McLellan
Dale was born May 5, 1936 in Portland, Oregon, the youngest child of Elda McLellan Brill and Lawrence McLellan. He started college at Portland State, and after transferring to Oregon State College, graduated with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Engineering. He started his engineering career at Boeing, but put that career on hold during the early 1960’s in order to serve in the Peace Corps. Dale and his family relocated to Venezuela for several years, where Dale taught at the University in Barquisimeto. Upon returning to the United States, Dale resumed his engineering career and retired from Boeing in 1994.
His post-Boeing years were filled with a variety of accomplishments and adventures: Engineering consultant; restaurateur; soccer referee; school bus driver; wood-worker; published author and world traveler. He and his wife Peggy became certified scuba divers and shortly thereafter became partners in a dive shop in Kauai. After he hung up his scuba tanks, he continued his water adventures on cruise ships, most notably on the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
Dale is survived by his devoted wife Peggy McLellan, daughter Cindy Enyeart (Ron), son Patrick McLellan (Michelle), stepdaughter Kate Gamble (Van), ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Dale’s ashes will be laid to rest at one of his favorite dive spots in the Hawaiian waters.
