Dennis Wayne Brown passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023. He was 73 years old.
Dennis was born in Chehalis Washington on December 29, 1949 to Eugene and Marguerette Brown.
He is preceded to heaven by his parents, brother Larry (2009), and his longtime partner in life, love, and business, Dan Murphy (2010). He will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
His ashes will be scattered along with his Dan Murphy’s at Molokini Crater, Maui, Hawaii, their favorite scuba site.
He is reunited with the love of his life, and has added his beautiful voice to the Choir of Angels in Heaven.
Dennis is survived by his nieces Kathy and Patti, nephew, Mike; son, Collin Elliott Maxfield Clark, and daughter, Eden Emelia Kensington Clark, both of Salem, Oregon.
Dennis was a man of many talents and will be most remembered for his persistent and infectious smile along with his unconditional kindness which he generously shared with friends, family, and strangers. Some of the many places you may have known Dennis include: 611 Tavern, Ivars, Sonya’s, Big Eddie’s, The Cottage, Double Header, Park Bench, Price Reagan, the Deluxe, Dave’s Diner, Steve’s Broiler, The Clock, The Dog House, Windermere Real Estate, the Ten Grands Seattle event, South Seattle Community College, SASH, Prudential Real Estate, Evergreen Moneysource, and dancing at Neighbors and the Cuff.
Dennis grew up in Chehalis, Washington and graduated from Renton High School. He moved to Hawaii where he studied at the University while working as a florist; he found himself singing in nightclubs, opening for others like Don Ho and eventually headlining in Honolulu and Midway.
He joined the cast of Hair and moved to New York City where he was an actor, singer, and dancer on Broadway and began touring in shows like Jesus Christ Superstar. He shared a few stories with those close to him about his time performing in Las Vegas. He studied Music at Indiana University where he continued to build life-long friendships.
He met the love of his life in Seattle 44 years ago while on tour, and their life together was filled with escapades in their backyard, the Pacific Northwest, throughout the United States, and around the world. Many of their travels were driven by their passion for diving and included Europe, the Mediterranean, Florida, the Caribbean, California, Mexico, and Hawaii.
They were a perfect partnership, managing bars and restaurants in the early years and building “Murphy Brown” Real Estate and Financial Services in the prime of their lives together. Throughout his life, Dennis has been recognized as an expert in so many fields. He threw himself completely into anything he set his hands to.
