On Saturday November 25th, Kathleen Mae Porter passed away peacefully in her home in Lynnwood, Washington. She is survived by her son Timothy and his wife Monti, along with their daughters Zoe and Halle Porter, her son Jerry Porter, and her eldest sister Judy Todd.
Kathleen’s passing is preceded by her loving husband Gerald, her parents Alton and Ann Hagen, and her sisters Margaret Eichenberger and Carol Wilson.
Kathleen Mae was born in a small historic city in Southern Wisconsin called Janesville, however she spent most of her youth in Kennewick, Washington. Kathleen was one of 4 sisters. After graduating from Kennewick High School, Kathleen made her way to the Pacific Northwest where she met and fell in love with Gerald Porter after meeting while both were working at Warshal’s Sporting Goods. Kathleen and Gerald were married in May of 1965 in Seattle, they settled in Edmonds in 1970. Kathleen and Gerald started a family of their own and were blessed with the birth of their sons Timothy in 1966 followed by Jerry in 1968. Kathleen adored her sons and created many beautiful memories with her family over the years. Kathleen also played a special role in the lives of her granddaughters Zoe and Halle, especially in their early childhood.
For more than 35 years, Kathleen was a dedicated employee of The Bon Marche in Lynnwood. She always had a busy social calendar with her beloved lifelong friends, enjoying luncheons, Husky Saturdays and Seahawk Sundays as well as hosting her annual Christmas party.
Kathleen was known for her love of service to others and to her lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She dedicated countless hours to volunteering at Holy Rosary Church in Edmonds, Washington. Holiday bazaars, annual potlucks, and planning for memorial services were just some of the volunteer activities she enjoyed immensely. Kathleen cherished her community of fellow parishioners at Holy Rosary.
Although we are saddened by Kathleen’s sudden departure from our world, we take comfort in knowing she lived a full and beautiful life. The memories she created with those she loved and cared for will be cherished for all eternity.
Kathleen will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Rosary Parish in Edmonds on Wednesday December 6th. The Rosary will be prayed at 10am, followed by Mass at 10:30 and a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in her name to Saint Vincent de Paul.
