Bart Evich passed away at his home in Shoreline, Washington on December 4, 2023.
Bart was born on July 14, 1943 in Podhumlje, Croatia to Sime Ivčević and Rita Kordić. He lived and grew up on a farm on the island of Vis and in 1960 he moved to the United States.
Bart was drafted by his new country to serve in the Vietnam War, where he fought on the front lines with the US Army as a Sergeant and received a Purple Heart for his service.
Shortly after his military service he met Katy Marinković in San Pedro, California and they married in 1971.
Bart was a commercial fisherman for most of his life, and traveled often from Seattle to Alaska to fish the Alaskan waters. He was passionate about fishing, loved working in the garden at home, and enjoyed playing billiards with his friends. He was a gregarious conversationalist that was willing to seek out a chat with anyone! He was a kind soul, that was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Katy, his children Sam, Maggie, and Darlene, his son-in-law Don, his grandchildren Henry and Lily, his sister Vanya, his brother Jerko and many loving relatives and friends.
