It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Luis Rodriguez Alvarez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully early morning on Monday, September 16th, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born and raised in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Jose met his beautiful wife there, and together they embarked on a journey that led them to become permanent residents of Seattle, Washington where they started and nurtured a loving family of five and established a life filled with joy and purpose.
Jose was a devoted husband to his beautiful wife and together they raised a loving family of five. He was not only a loving husband but a caring father and a cheerful grandfather who brought immense happiness to his granddaughters. His laughter and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A proud union member and an educated scholar, Jose attended North Seattle and Seattle Central College, exemplifying his commitment to lifelong learning. In his youth, he was an avid soccer player, enjoying both recreational games and team competitions. His love for sports remained throughout his life, always ready to join any game on any empty or full court.
Jose had a generous spirit, dedicating his time and resources to his community. He was always ready to lend a hand. Whether it was offering a ride to someone in need, donating to those who were less fortunate (even if he himself didn’t always have it) or ensuring friends, family and strangers had a warm meal; he found joy in making others happy. For many years, he and his
wife could be seen walking around Green Lake, sharing moments of companionship and tranquility. Walk the lake in honor of him next time that you visit.
He leaves behind his mother, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, granddaughters, daughters, sons, and his cherished wife, all of whom carry his legacy of love and kindness.
Jose Luis Rodriguez Alvarez touched the lives of many and will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, commitment to community, and the joy he brought into every single room. He will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
Thank you for your kindness, your thoughts, and your support. It means the world to us as we remember and celebrate a truly unremarkable man who brought so much joy and love into our lives.
We are also reaching out to ask for your support during this difficult time. Your contributions will help ease the financial pressures of medical bills, allowing my mother the time she needs to grieve, and cover the costs associated with honoring my father’s memory.
We love you, dad. Rest in peace.
