Suzi Freeman
Our beloved, Suzi Freeman, 78, of Woodinville, WA, passed away on January 6, 2025. Suzi was born in July of 1946 to Don and Gladys Hansen in Seattle, WA. She grew up around the Pacific Northwest, graduated from J.M Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen and went on to get her associate’s degree from Grays Harbor Community College.
After graduating from college, Suzi moved back to the Bothell area where she met Gary Freeman. They were married in the spring of 1969. Suzi & Gary moved to Woodinville where they eventually built a new house on their property. Suzi enjoyed many days sitting on the front porch in her rocking chair. They were married 53 years before Gary passed away in 2023.
Suzi had a passion for history and was extremely involved in preserving it and teaching others about it. She became a member of the Woodinville Heritage Society shortly after it was formed. Most Fridays you could find her volunteering at the museum. She helped write two books on Woodinville (Village in the Woods: Woodinville’s Early Days 1870-1920), Bothell and the surrounding areas (Slough of Memories: Recollections of Life in Bothell, Kenmore, North Creek, Woodinville)
For many years, Suzi worked at That Patchwork Place. Then, before retiring, she worked several years for The Woodinville Weekly.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Christine) of Phoenix AZ and daughter, Stephanie (Chad) of Duvall, WA and her three grandchildren, McKenna, Shelby, and Conner. She is also survived by her older sister Marian, and younger brothers Rick and Roger.
Suzi was a wonderful sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. She will be sorely missed.
