Kathleen E. Harris
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathleen E. Harris, a beloved mother, wife, sister, daughter and cherished Memaw, who left this world on April 4, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on March 5, 1944, Kathy lived a life rich in love, adventure, and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Kathy was a world traveler, her spirit ignited by a deep curiosity and a passion for exploring new cultures. From the bustling streets of Paris to the serene landscapes of the Holland countryside, she embraced every journey with open arms and an open heart. Her stories of adventure inspired those around her, reminding us all of the beauty that exists beyond our own backyards.
A devoted supporter of the troops, Kathy dedicated her time and resources to ensuring that those who served our country felt appreciated and cared for. Her efforts to provide comfort and support to military personnel exemplified her unwavering commitment to service and her deep sense of gratitude for their sacrifices.
Kathy’s compassion extended beyond her support for the troops; she was also a tireless advocate for the homeless. Through her generous spirit, she provided food and assistance to those in need, embodying the belief that everyone deserves kindness and dignity. Her selfless acts of service were a testament to her character and her desire to make the world a better place.
As a carer of animals, Kathy had a special bond with all creatures great and small. Her home was often filled with the joyful sounds of her beloved pets, and she took great pride in providing them with love and care. Her nurturing nature extended to all living beings, reflecting her profound empathy and understanding of the interconnectedness of life.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Dale, her daughter, Elizabeth McMahon (husband Kevin McMahon), her grandson, Connor, and sister, Carol Penman (husband Neil Penman), and a large extended family, who will forever cherish the memories of her warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. She was a guiding light in their lives, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire them every day.
In honoring Kathy’s memory, we invite all who knew her to celebrate her life by embracing the values she held dear: compassion, adventure, and a commitment to helping others. A private memorial service will be held on Aprl 9th, 2025. A celebration of life will be held later this year at Carolina Beach, where she created many cherished memories with her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local hospice organization.
Rest in peace, dear Kathy. Your spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those you touched.
A piece of my heart is
now a star in the sky.
