Norman Everett Boyle passed away peacefully July 28, 2017, at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington.
Norman was born May 27, 1933, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Ernest Boyle and Julia (Batiste) Boyle.
He was a very energetic child growing up in Hahnville, Louisiana, trapping wildlife, fishing in the Mississippi River, and spending time with his extended family. An inquisitive and talkative child, Norman excelled in his studies and graduated from high school in 1951. As he developed into a young man, he played brass in the band, The Eight Tones, formed by Mr. Raymond Smith. He attended Dillard University on an athletic scholarship.
Norman voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany. In 1955 he was honorably discharged and returned to Louisiana.
Soon after returning home he then moved to Seattle, Washington to live with the late Leo Baptiste, (his great uncle) and find employment. There he met and married Mattie Holman. Two children soon followed.
With a family to support, Norman landed a job with the United States Postal Service dedicating 35 years to this career before retiring in 1993.
He loved fishing and listening to jazz music, both live and recorded. Throughout his life, he maintained his sense of humor and lightheartedness, talking to anyone and joking with all; even complete strangers.
He is survived by his children, Jacqueline Carter and Myron (Karen) Boyle; grandchildren Alia Carter, Arianna Carter, Myron Boyle Jr. and Aaron Boyle, Cousin Jessie (Theo) Christophe as well as many nieces, nephews, and various other extended family and friends. His brothers Ernest and Shelby Boyle preceded him in death as well as his only beloved sister, Marjorie Boyle Mosley.
Private interment will be held at a later date.
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”
