It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Paul Charles Cowderoy on Sunday, October 8th, 2017. He fought strong and brave up to his last breath throughout his dealing with his numerous health issues, with the goal of being able to go home with the absolute love of his life, his wife Virginia that he called his “Angel” and being with his family.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. A true family man through and through. Paul is survived by his incredible wife Virginia, daughter Sherry Begue, her husband Bill, their children Gary and Diana; son Michael, his wife Christina; daughter Christine; son Dwayne Scott, his wife Joy, their children Holly and Breanna.
Paul was born in Seattle on February 20th 1923 to Leonard and Ara Cowderoy, from a young boy he and his sister Jeanne were raised by his Father and Step mother Lillian in the north Seattle area. Paul attended and graduated from Seattle’s Roosevelt High School in 1941. He enlisted active duty from enlisted reserve duty for flight training December 4, 1942 and became an Flight Officer 2nd Lieutenant Pilot.
Paul and Virginia first met in 1943 in Oregon at an ocean beach, it was love at first sight. Their relationship blossomed and were married in Virginia’s home city of Portland, August 10th 1945. They did celebrate their 72nd wedding anniverary together this last August 10th. They lived in Seattle in the Northgate/Lake City area. Paul had several jobs after the war, the one that he landed at Boeing was special, he was there for 35 years and was a highly rated Contact Administrator. Retiring in 1985 he remained very busy, among many things he and his wife turned to traveling in their truck and camper, then moved up to a larger RV. They were members of the Elks 1800 Wheelers RV Club, holding several leadership roles, which they continued doing until their 80’s. They took many trips around the country and their call name was the “Red Baron”.
Paul enjoyed lively conversations and always wanted to know about all the family and what they were doing. The Family “Get-Togethers” were very important to him, his wife and family meant everything to him. He had a lifelong passion for sports, participating in many and in his later years would be found in front his big screen TV enjoying all his favorite sports and teams. Paul was an avid Seattle Sounder fan, he and his wife Virginia had season tickets back in the 1980’s when they played in the Kingdome, in the later years he never missed a game on TV. He was a Husky fan who enjoyed Husky football, as well as the Seahawks and Mariners.
It is impossible to adequately describe the many facets and attributes that made Paul who he was. He had a connection and lasting impact on many people throughout his life. His death has left an enormous void which can never be filled. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
The family is grateful to our many friends for the outpouring of love and support.
