Robert J. Barrett

Robert J. Barrett

Robert J. Barrett (Bob) died October 18, 2018 after a brief illness. He had lived his entire 91 years in Greater Seattle, attending Laurelhurst Grade School, St. Joseph Grade School, O’Dea High School and Seattle University. During his university years, he met Jeanne Borgendale, who became his beloved wife, social director and loving companion of 62 years.  Bob and Jeanne enjoyed numerous adventures internationally and domestically. Laughter was their language and love their song.

Bob worked as a reservations agent at United Airlines until his retirement. He contributed untold hours to his community through volunteer work, and found solace and creative joys in gardening, art and various vaudeville-style long running jokes.  Bob was also founder and president of The Clean Plate Club and Brown Dog Club.

His dear Jeanne died in 2015, and his older brother Francis and twin sister Rosemary Siderius also preceded him in death.  He is survived by his children Jeanne Barrett (Marty Spiegel), Jude Barrett (Gary Jacky), James Barrett (Emily Morton Barrett), Anne Barrett-Fragale (Ralph Fragale), and grandchildren Gabriel, Lyla, Celia, Saxton, Lake and Peck.

In reflection of his lifelong love of animals and his dedication to community service, he chose the following organizations, for those that wish to honor his memory:

Catholic Community Services

Seattle Humane Society

All remaining dues from The Clean Plate Club and Brown Dog Club will be transferred to the Martini Memorial Fund.

Memorial services will be held at St. Joseph Church, 732 18th Ave E., Seattle
