Ronald John Nistler
September 23, 1936 – April 30, 2010
Ron was born in Eden Valley, Minnesota on September 23, 1936. He passed away peacefully on April 30th, 2010 surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ron grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and after serving in the US Army in Germany, he began working at Boeing. He remained with Boeing for 47 years until his retirement.
His gentle, wise demeanor, incredible integrity, kindness and loyalty touched many lives. He loved gardening and his lighted holiday displays were enjoyed by many. Another love was automobiles, especially Corvettes, having many great memories in his own. Watching westerns, old movies and basketball was a favorite pastime-especially when Duke won! He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Redmond, daughter, Denise (Randy) Rankin of Bothell, grandchildren, Michael Humphrey of Lynnwood, Jonathan Merrill of New York City and Ashley Merrill of Houston, Texas, as well as three great-grandchildren. His brothers Jim Nistler of Medford, Oregon and Gene Nistler of Eugene Oregon and their respective families also survive him.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Matthew Lonergan, the Evergreen Cancer Center and Evergreen Hospice Center for their dedicated, compassionate care during Ron’s illness.
