Ryan Scott Corey

1997-2015

Ryan passed away on April 2nd at his home in Bothell Washington. He was born April 17th 1997 to Jeff and Teresa Corey in Lewiston Idaho. He was 17.

Ryan attended Centennial Elementary and Sacajawea Junior High School in Lewiston until 2012. He attended Juanita High School in Kirkland and was to graduate in June of this year. He was planning on attending Cascadia Community College in the fall.

Ryan was passionate for the outdoors. He started Cub scouts at Grace Lutheran Church and was currently working towards his Eagle Scout with Troop 570 in Kirkland, Washington. He loved fishing and hunting with his dad and hiking, biking and snowboarding with his Mom. Ryan caught his first steelhead at age 5 and took his first deer at age 12. Turkeys were his passion and nemesis as he loved chasing them. He took his biggest gobbler in 2012. He loved wakeboarding at Dworshak reservoir and riding his motorcycle all over the mountains of Northern Idaho. He loved snowboarding at Stevens pass but missed this year due to the lack of snow. He was planning on attending Philmont Boy Scout camp this June to hike the gorgeous mountains of New Mexico. Ryan also loved to compete and started running track in ninth grade at Lewiston High School. He currently was on the Juanita High Track team and was running several events and learning to master pole vaulting.

He also was very close to his older sister Heather and his Chocolate Lab Dakota. Heather and he were separated by many miles, they talked daily and played games in their spare time. Dakota was a faithful friend and they are now reunited again.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Jeff and Teresa Corey of Bothell Washington; sister Heather Corey of Lewiston; Grandparents Jack and Jane Corey of Rupert Idaho and Barbara Brewster of Lewiston; Aunt and Uncle Jodi and Greg Thomas of Cleburn Texas, Aunt Susan Tankersley of Snohomish Washington; Uncle Shane Tankersley and wife Sonya of Arlington Washington; cousins Zach Tankersley of Snohomish Washington and Tyler and Rayann Thomas of Cleburn Texas. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather Jim Brewster.

A memorial service will be held Saturday April 11th at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church 10021 NE 124th St. Kirkland Washington 98034 .In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to the Boy Scouts of America Troop 570 at the above address in Ryan’s memory.
