Sgt. John Armon Miller, 40, of Kent, WA, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue, WA, after fighting cancer for just over a year. John was born February 21, 1974, in Seattle, WA.
John was a proud patriot that served in the United States Army from 1995 to 2004. He honorably served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004 with Battle Force 3-327th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He will be greatly missed by all his family, friends, and brothers-in-arms. John worked for Traylor Bros, Inc. as a Quality Control Manager. His last project was the University Link Light Rail U220 Tunnel in Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leonard Miller, grandfather Robert Dowling, uncle Doug Miller, and uncle Greg Dowling. He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly (Burns) Miller, daughter Reagan (4), at home, his father & stepmother, Ron & JoAnn Miller of Kent, WA, his mother, Suzanne Dowling of Kent, WA, his stepfather, Tony (Kathleen) Hoagland of Salt Lake City, UT, grandmother, Mable Miller of Kent, WA, grandmother, Patricia Dowling of Port Townsend, WA, sisters Melea Pereira of Tacoma, WA, her children, Josh, Lucas and Taylor Pereira, Nicole Miller of Seattle, WA, her daughter Sofia, Danielle Hoagland of Seattle, WA, and Heather Hoagland of San Francisco, CA, his brother Scott (Beth) Pelto-Fishbeck of Bellingham, WA, their children Rylie & Ivy, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
John will be honored at Tahoma National Cemetery on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 1 pm. A celebration of life will immediately follow the service at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent, WA. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) in John’s name. Donations will also be accepted at the celebration of life and then sent to the WWP. WWP is an organization that held a special place in John’s heart. “Honor and Country.”
