Stephen Arthur “Steve” Delaney, 81, of Lynnwood, Washington, passed away on March 7, 2024, in Edmonds, Washington.
He was born on December 7, 1942, in Priest River, Idaho.
Steve moved to Lynnwood in 1949 with his three sisters and parents. He attended school in the Edmonds School District until joining the Navy in 1959.
Steve was a proud veteran, having served in the US Navy from 1960 to 1966. Most of his military time was spent in Hawaii and the Western Pacific on the Destroyer Escort Nicholas DD 449.
Following his military service, he worked at Boeing in manufacturing. Then he worked at Ballard Brass Foundry before becoming a mechanic for several private golf courses in King and Snohomish County.
In his free time, Steve enjoyed riding his Harley Sportster motorcycle, on trips with friends. He was known for his love of cats, motorcycles, and cherished his time spent with lifelong friends Robin Hickok and Fred Conner.
Steve is survived by his sisters Marcia Delaney, Lynnwood and Kathy (Eric) Meislahn, Edmonds. As well as Hunter “Chip” Hicks, nephews Perry (Misti) Hicks and Owen Hicks, Jourdanne Hewson, Annaleise Hicks, Jesse Mossman, Rylynn Hicks, and Addilyn Hewson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne M. (Treat) and William E. Delaney, and his sister, Billie Anne (Delaney) Hicks.
A private inurnment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River, Idaho at a later date this spring, per Steve’s wishes.
