Stephenie (Stevie) Dilworth Crane, a long time Bellevue resident, ended her courageous battle with cancer on April 6, 2013.
Stevie was born in 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA to Harrison and Margaret Dilworth. She spent her early years in Pittsburgh, moving with her family to St. Paul, MN where she graduated from Convent of the Visitation School in 1953. She earned a degree in chemistry from Smith College in 1957. While at Smith she met her future husband, Charles Crane.
Charlie and Stevie began their married life in San Francisco, and moved to Newport Hills in 1962 where they raised their four children. Stevie will be remembered as a loyal friend, enthusiastic volunteer and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will also be missed by long time friends from her bridge and tennis groups. She gave generously of her time and talent to many organizations, including St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church, the Bellevue public schools, and her beloved Smith College. Stevie never missed a soccer game, swimming meet, dance recital or band concert for her children or grandchildren.
Stevie was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Harrison and Everett Dilworth. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charlie, her children, Susan (Bob), Charlie (Kathi) , Debbie (Bert) and Betsy (Jim), and her five grandchildren. Memorial mass will be celebrated Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11 am, at St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church, 4400 – 130th Place SE, Bellevue. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice.
