Vera Evelyn Wickline

Vera on her 85th Birthday

Vera Evelyn Wickline of North Bend, age 93, a thirty year resident of the Snoqualmie Valley, quietly passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on December 21, 2010, at the Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland.  She was keen and active to the last – the final symptoms not appearing until December 11th.  Vera was born on August 13, 1917 in Seattle, the second of three children of Lloyd Vernon Crozier and Lydia Ida Pauline (Lyda) Lundberg.  Vera graduated from Latona Grade School, Alexander Hamilton Junior High and Lincoln High, although she spent some of her youth in the Seattle City Light community of Newhalem, on the Skagit, where her father worked on the Gorge Dam.

Vera married Julian Vincent Wickline on July 6th 1940 in Seattle.  Wick was an aircraft maintenance instructor during WWII and they raised their three children at their home near Bothell at ‘Kennards Corner’ just off SR-527.  Vera and Wick later both worked for the Fuzzy Wuzzy Rug Company.
Wick passed away in 1978, and, in March of 1980, Vera moved to the Snoqualmie Valley and her own cottage on her daughter and son-in-law’s place, Monte Vista Farm.  Later she purchased a town home in North Bend, and in 2005 she moved to the Red Oak Retirement Residence.
Vera was active in the Snoqualmie United Methodist Church, the Helping Hand Food Bank, and the Mount Si Senior Center and in later years enjoyed serious card games, solving puzzles and doing email on her computer.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Victoria Johnson (Hal) of Bainbridge Island, son Paul Vernon Wickline (Sara) of Leavenworth, daughters Sue Mitchell (David) of Renton and Kathy Battey (David) of Snoqualmie, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
At her request there will be no memorial service.  The immediate family will gather to celebrate her life.
