AUG 21, 1940 – SEPT 8, 2016
Verle Allen Myrick was born August 21, 1940 in Newberg, Oregon. His twin brother, Merle, was born 28 minutes later.
The family moved to Pasco, Wa. where the boys went to school. Merle was the better student so twice a week they’d switch places so Verle could get better grades (until they were caught). They later moved to Burbank, Wa. where they went to Burbank High School. Verle made many lifelong friends there.
In 1968 Verle moved to Seattle and started his airling career with Air West Airlines. After many airline mergers, he retired from Northwest Airlines in 2003.
He loved golf and was good, even with a crooked elbow, due to a break, and missing 2 fingers on his left hand due to an accident when he was 15. He also taught himself to play the guitar left handed after his accident.
He met his wife Susan, who worked for the same airline, soon after moving to Seattle and they married in 1970.
He is survived by his wife Susan, his three sons and their families, Darrin, Vaughn and Angie, and Morgan and Karen, his grandchildren Nicole, Lyndsey, Emily, Aidyn and Theron, his brother Merle and his wife Helen, and his sisters Sally and Teddie.
He fought a tough battle with ALS for 5 years and never lost his sense of humor, told jokes right to the end, and had a twinkle in his eye. He loved his family, playing golf, watching the Mariners win or lose, and was a proud Seahawks fan.
We love and miss you, Verle.
Celebration of his life will be held in the future. Date has not yet been decided upon.
