Wilbur E. Armstrong

Wilbur E. Armstrong, 86, died July 24th 2016 in Bellevue, WA. He was born October 20th, 1929 in Chambersburg, PA to Jane and Irvin Armstrong. Wilbur was married to his beloved wife, Pat, for sixty-one years until Pat’s passing in 2012. The couple lived in Chambersburg, PA until they retired in Redmond, WA to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Wilbur was a 1947 graduate of Chambersburg High School, and a graduate of the Chambersburg School of Business. He served in the U.S. Army with the 728th Ordinance Maintenance Company, 28th Infantry Division, during the Korean War. Wilbur worked much of his career as an accountant at Garman’s Home Center, and eventually opened his own remodeling business.

Wilbur was very committed to his stewardship to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Marion, PA, serving on the Church Council in various capacities over the years, where his wife Pat was the church organist. Wilbur was an active sportsman in hunting and fishing, and worked many years as a Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer in the Pennsylvania Game Commission.Wilbur Armstrong

Wilbur is survived by two daughters, Cinda J. Brand of Kirkland, WA and Dawna L. Capps and her husband Mark Capps of Redmond, WA, and three grandchildren, Emily B. Haas and her husband Stephen Haas of Kirkland, WA, Zachary M. Brand of Harpers Ferry, WV, and Taylor R. Capps of Redmond, WA. He also leaves behind a sister, Annabelle Fetterhoff of St. Augustine, FL and a brother, Jerry Armstrong of Chambersburg, PA. Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. Armstrong, and their son, Robyn G. Armstrong.

A memorial service will be held at Salem Lutheran Church at a future date.
