William (Buck) Nelson was born December 2, 1925 and died peacefully on March 19, 2013. We was born in Cass West, Virginia. Buck served in the US Navy for 4 years during WWII. He served in the Army Reserves until he returned to active duty during the Korean War. He, Shirley and his young family spent 3 years stationed in Verdun France.
Buck enjoyed golfing and his summer property in Blue Lake where he water-skied, para-sailed and enjoyed family and friends. He loved bowling and participated in 3 bowling leagues. He worked at Albertsons as a bakery manager leaving after 25 years to start his own bakery business. His passion was working for Pizza Blends, he stayed with that company until his retirement at 86. His career with Pizza Blends facilitated traveling to many different places where he and Shirley made many wonderful friends during exciting adventures. He was a genius when it came to creating pizza formulas for many pizza chains throughout the country.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, of 68 years, son Frank Nelson (Pam), daughter Cynthia Anderson (Rick). He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Gloria. Grandchildren: Christopher, Cindi, Grant, Reid, Natalie, Justin (JJ). Great-grandchildren: L.J., Jaela, Cameron, Brooke, Marcus, Alaira, Kenley-Rae & Sophia.
The family will have a small private service for immediately family. There are plans for a memorial in the future.
